And breathe with Wim Hof!
Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been exploring how to breathe. Of course, this sounds very fundamental, but there is actually more to it than you think. I believe, many people are not breathing consciously. Are you?
Also have you heard of Wim Hof?
Wim Hof is a Dutch extreme athlete who earned the nickname “The Iceman” because of his ability to withstand extreme freezing temperatures.
The Wim Hof Method consists of three components: breathing exercises, training your mindset and also a gradual exposure to the cold.
Inspired by Wim Hof, I start my day with a very simple breathing technique: breathe with Wim Hof.
The breathing does not take long (about 20 minds maybe). It’s about conscious, deep belly breathing in combination with also holding the breath afterwards.
Once I have done the breathing exercise I’ll have a cold shower. My initial thought was not to do the cold showering. The reason why? I did not want to waste water as I would usually not have a shower each day.
However, you get hooked quickly and the boost of energy I have is immense! I also fall asleep easier now and sleep through the night. Many “Hoffers” also experience relieve of stress, a boost of their immune system, and increase of willpower and mental wellbeing.
I have now started reading the book ‘Oxygen advantage” by Patrick McKeown which suggests to breathe through the nose more. I am sure I can deepen my previous experience even further and find it very exciting!
So why don’t you give it a go? There is nothing you can lose and everyone can do it.
