Summer Holidays Are Coming: Why We’re Slowing Down (And Why You Should Too)
Summer has a way of asking us to stop. The days get longer, the pace of everything else should get slower — and yet most of us keep our phones in our pockets, our inboxes open, and our to-do lists running.
This year, we’re doing things differently.
We’re Pausing B2B Orders This Summer:
Here’s exactly when to expect it:
Orders will be posted as normal until 4th August and orders will also be posted between 17th and 21st August only. We return to standard opening times after the August Bank Holiday on the 31st August.
We know a pause in order processing asks something of our partners too, and we don’t take that lightly. That’s exactly why we’re telling you now, well ahead of time, so you can plan your stock and timelines around it rather than being caught off guard.
Why We Believe in Taking a Real Break
There’s a growing body of evidence, and honestly just common sense, that constant availability doesn’t make businesses stronger. It makes people tired, distracted, and worse at the very work they’re trying to protect by never stopping.
A real break means:
- Time away from screens. Not a shorter scroll — none at all, for a few days.
- A return to basics. Simple food, simple routines, simple mornings that don’t start with notifications.
- Space to actually notice the season instead of just hearing about it between meetings.
This is where Gaia Terra comes in – I, Dani, founder and business owner of A fine choice, have been to Gaia Terra last year and thought it was an amazing time out and I came back with recharged batteries.
Gaia Terra: A Blueprint for Slowing Down
Tucked into the Italian countryside, Gaia Terra is an eco-village built around exactly the principles we’re trying to bring into our own summer break. It’s a community where life runs on essentials — grown food, shared work, natural rhythms — and where a phone in your pocket is more of an oddity than a habit.
People who spend time at places like Gaia Terra often describe the same thing: the first day is uncomfortable without a phone in hand, and by the third, they can’t remember why they needed it. Mornings start with the sun instead of an alarm. Meals come from what’s grown a few steps away. Evenings are for conversation, not scrolling.
You don’t have to move to an eco-village to borrow the idea. But it’s worth asking: what would a few days without your phone, living by fewer, simpler things, actually feel like?

Bringing the Gaia Terra Mindset Home This Summer
You don’t need Italy or a village to try this. A few ways to borrow the spirit of Gaia Terra wherever you’re spending your break:
- Set your phone aside for real stretches of the day — not airplane mode for ten minutes, but actual hours.
- Eat something simple and local. A market tomato beats a delivery app every time in August.
- Let one day have no plan at all. Basics first: rest, food, people, quiet.
- Notice what you don’t miss. Usually, it’s less than you think.
When We’ll Be Back
Once our break ends, B2B order processing resumes as normal, and our team returns rested and ready to support you for the rest of the year.
Until then — we hope your summer, however you spend it, gives you at least a few days that feel like Gaia Terra: unplugged, unhurried, and back to basics.
Have questions about order timing over the break? Reach out to our team before the pause begins and we’ll make sure you’re covered.
